About Michaela Freedman

Since becoming a medical cannabis patient, Michaela has devoted her career to advancing its treatment and business worldwide.

Michaela started MF Consulting in 2018, reporting on industry trends and the cultural and legal implications of Canada’s regulated cannabis program for industry and consumer publications. Her research skills and market intelligence landed her in the legal sector where she was sought after to provide expert testimony on global cannabis regulations and their implementation in new and emerging markets.

Having facilitated wholesale partnerships for licensed operators worldwide, she saw first-hand the regulatory barriers and supply chain bottlenecks and recognized the need for more sustainable business practices. Her consultancy then grew to offer advisory services to help investors define and improve their business plans.

With an extensive network of contacts, knowledge of regulations and industry standards, Michaela is a leader in cannabis business intelligence and a trusted advisor to new and established companies worldwide. Since November 2020, she has been a Guest Lecturer for George Brown College’s Cannabis Business course in the School of Continuing Education.

In a non-traditional regulatory market like cannabis, Michaela works with start-ups and seasoned players to navigate and capitalize on new market opportunities. A consummate professional with an entrepreneurial approach, she bridges the gap between production and commercialization, providing objective insight into launching and expanding a successful cannabis business.

Michaela brings transparency to a cloudy industry, proving that the business of cannabis is not all smokes and mirrors.
